Asgard  citadel guarded by Heimdall and labyrinthine fjords Aesir younger group of family of Norse gods; led by Odin, who defeated Vanir in Elder Days

Freki grey wolf companion to Grimnir the Wanderer

Grimnir mysterious wanderer in the Nine Worlds; gift-giver who travels with two grey wolves (Geri and Freki) as companions

Hügin (name is Norse word for “thought”); one of Odin’s two ravens whom the All-Father sends to gather information; appear at times & places of crisis in Nine Worlds

Jormungand son of Loki and the frost-giantess, Angrboda; also called the Midgard Serpent

Mjöllnir magic hammer of Thor Odin-Son; indestructible, lightning-summoner, controls storms and climate; and always returns to thrower’s hand

Münin (name is Norse word for “memory”); one of the two ravens of Odin (see“Hügin”)

Thor son of Odin All-Father, and Norse god of thunder; defends Asgard against Frost Giants of Jotunheim, and close friend of Loki the Trickster (although both often fight each other for the favor of Odin and Aesir in Asgard); not seen recently in any of the Nine Worlds

Vdofnir rooster who lives in branches of Yggdrassil, the World Tree, and spars daily with Ratatosk the Squirrel

Vanir elder group of family of Norse gods; defeated by Odin and the Aesir (the younger branch of the family) in the First Age; both families reside near Fjords of Asgard
